Sometimes medicines: are not enough and I would recommend 2 things 1- consult a clinical psychologist for CBT ( cognitive behavioral therapy ) and 2 -also, please ask your PCP about the use of SSRI medication while weaning off the Ativan (lorazepam). You state you have suffered "for years"- it is time to take control.

Therapy/SSRIs: I'm sorry you've had anxiety for so long. Lorazepam is a good short-term medication for anxiety and can also help with panic attacks. For longer term treatment, we usually recommend therapy (such as CBT) or SSRI/SNRI as a medication option. Both can be very effective and we often recommend a combination of therapy with medication.
