A member asked:

My doctors say that i have perioral dermatitis, but i have cracks of corners of lips, and then it spread around lips. can it be cheilitis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cheilitis: Perioral dermatitis is papules, pustules or scaling patches around the mouth, nose and sometimes on the eyelids. Cracks in the corners of lips is cheilitis. Cracks can form from dryness, use of strong flavored or alcohol-containing mouthwashes, dental appliances such as braces or dentures and licking. Cracks get inflamed due to saliva, bacteria and yeast and irritants in saliva.
