It is strange: The only thing I can think of is an allergic reaction to something that you & your girlfriend put around your wrists. Try using an over the counter cream like Cortaid (hydrocortisone) to see if it will stop the itching. If not or the skin breaks out with rash or other manifestation see your family physician.
