I'm worried about cancer. specifically throat cancer. i don't smoke and doc says throat looks find but cough sometimes and chronic clear throat?

Do not worry: Given your symptoms and habits, you are not a risk for throat cancer. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco or alcohol in any form. Practice safe sex.

Not cancer: Other than for malignant tumors of minor salivary glands within oral cavity, almost all malignancies are squamous cell in origin. Cough is not one of the complaints. Rather it is an ulcerating lesion that does not heal and may bleed with eventual spread to cervical nodes. Most cancers are from combo smoking and drinking however oral exposure to HPV may induce development of a malignant lesion.
