Is it okay to breastfeed while taking sulfameth/ trimethoprim?

Depends: We generally avoid using any using sulfa containing antibiotics in infants under 2 months due to an issue that can elevate jaundice. However, maternal use during lactation is usually okay.A little makes it into the milk, and if the baby were a premi, have jaundice, or have other health issues, I would avoid it in the first few months.
