A member asked:

I'm 23 yrs old. is it safe to take bc pills for sex protection? will it not harm myself nor my ovary/uterus?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

They're usually fine: If a woman doesn't have certain risk factors that make birth control pills potentially a problem, then she is safer on pills than getting pregnant. Pregnancy has a certain mortality rate... meaning a certain small number of women will die from pregnancy problems (everything has risks in life). Don't smoke. Of course, it's fine to use another birth control method if not able to use BC pills.
