A member asked:

Will a cytoscopy find a possible bladder abnormality for microscopic blood in urine that would've been missed by an abdomen ct w/cont and transvag ultrasound? no kidney stones and ct and ultrasound negative. is cytoscopy necessary?

No: cystoscopy is an important part of work up when you have persistent microscopic hematuria. The main things to rule out are urinary bladder diverticulum or any cysts or mass on the bladder. Having said so-- it is not indicated for all patients with microscopic hematuria because blood can be coming from kidneys ( deformed RBCs) very common presentation in IgA nephropathy. Seek a nephrology consult.
