No one rate: There is no one "safe" heart rate for someone with hypertension. The normal range for heart rate is 60-100 beats per minute, but it varies throughout the day, with stress and activity, and with someone with high blood pressure, certain medications will effect the heart rate. The key factor is whether a specific heart rate (fast or slow) is causing symptoms or is consistently out of range.
