A member asked:

A piercing parlor agreed to pierce my nose & i'm pregnant. i'm 31 weeks. is it getting infected the only risk? if not, what other risks are there?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Infection: Infection is the main risk to piercings but keloid formation is also possible. As an OB, I always recommend evaluating the risks and benefits of anything in pregnancy and delaying even things with a small risk until after delivery if possible in order to be as safe as possible. A bad infection would be rare but not impossible so I'd recommend waiting. Best wishes to you and the baby.
