Hidradenitis: Like larger, painful versions of pimples, hidradenitis lesions which are often described as "boils," contain bacteria that lives on the skin surface but has gotten deeper down to create an abscess. Daily washing with antibacterial soap in affected areas can be beneficial as well as keeping affected areas dry by avoiding close-fitting undergarments. In some cases a prescribed therapy is needed.
