Clavicle physeal fx?: The distal (end) of the clavicle does not ossify until about age 21. For this reason, the cartilage end is currently not visible on routine X-rays. If pain is NOT improving by now, a repeat thorough examination is warranted by a musculoskeletal specialist (orthopaedic surgeon) to assess for a physeal separation between the cartilage and bone end. This injury occurs at the growth plate.
