A member asked:

What happens if platelets are increased in the body?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on cause...: Elevated platelets can be a normal response of the body under conditions of inflammation. Usually platelet counts <750, 000 do not cause too many problems (depends on the age and health of the patient). Higher platelet counts can cause many problems such as putting a person at higher risk for developing blood clots. The underlying cause of increased platelets also influences risk of harm.
