PID? More Rx needed?: It sounds like pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), usually due to chlamydia or gonorrhea in the fallopian tubes. Probably you were given a shot of ceftriaxone and 1 gram of azithromycin by mouth. These are exactly right for uncomplicated gonorrhea or chlamydia, but more antibiotic is needed for PID. Follow-up ASAP with your doctor or gyn; or return to the ER. No sex, partner needs testing and Rx.
