Timeline for symptoms of complications after colonoscopy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Within 24 hours: The risk of any complications is extremely low. So you should not worry about it. If there is any complication in your case you will have symptoms quite quickly. The 2 potential(yet very rare) complications are bleeding or perforation of the bowel. Both will produce symptoms within a matter of hours. So if you are past 24 hours (and feel OK)from the procedure, you can rest in peace!
