See comments below: In general a diuretic like chlorthalidone might be a suitable alternative, but without knowing your medical history and blood pressure readings it's not possible to give specific advice. Generally at 79 years old would avoid lowering systolic BP below 140-150 or diastolic below 80 mm. Your physician should check BP sitting and standing after 2-3 minutes to see if you are on excessive medication.
