Spotting: Could be variation or thyroid or pregnancy. Check HCG, thyroid function or may just be variation. if on BCP spotting occurs.

Ans : Not necessarily. Spotty blood could be trauma from intervourse or just an irregular period. You can always do a urine pregnancy test if you are uncertain
