Go to a clinic: Pain with swallowing can have many causes such as infection (e.g. thrush, strep, virus), injury to the throat, muscle spasm or GERD. Some causes, such as a viral infection, might go away on their own, but this usually takes less than two weeks. A visit to a clinic is the best first step to diagnosis now. If it becomes hard to eat, drink or breathe then go directly to an emergency room.

Find: out the cause. get checked with md for epiglottis, URI, AIDs disease, . if no medical problem then could be due to too cold to hot foods, anxiety, and hurried swallowing which will need biofeedback and behavior modifications.
