Gestational age: Miscarriage is the term used when pregnancies fail prior to 20 weeks. A stillbirth is a child that is born and expired after 20 weeks of pregnancy. The term intrauterine fetal demise refers to both regardless of gestational age if the baby is not living while in the uterus.
