Depends: If there was no sex before both of you were treated less likely. However would be smart to be rechecked. Also why risk anything. Would only have protected sex with a condom.

Who started.: The question here is where the infection began. One or both of you has had other sexual partners and whether you still have the infection will depend on whether you are both now monogamous. If so, the chances of still having the infection are very low.
