STDs: Fellatio presents the risk of syphilis, chlamydia, herpes, gonorrhea, and HIV, among others. Condoms will lessen the risk appreciably. Be careful out there. Hope this helps.

Low risk, not zero: Contrary to advice from some sources, oral sex can be considered safe sex -- compared with vaginal or anal sex, much lower risk for all STDs and no risk for some. Main risks are gonorrhea, herpes due to HSV1, nongonococcal urethritis (NGU), and syphilis. Very low risk for chlamydia, HSV2, and HPV. Virtually zero for HIV and probably hepatitis. Condoms: see comment to follow.

For vaginal or anal sex, male condoms that are properly used and don't break are close to 100% protective against STDs transmitted primarily through fluids (gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, hepatitis B). Because of skin contact above the condom, they are less effective against herpes, HPV, and syphilis. But still much safer than no condom at all! Don't worry about microscopic leaks or pores: urban myth.

Properly used male condoms, with no obvious breakage, are close to 100% effective vs STDs transmitted by fluids (gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, hep B). They work less well against skin to skin transmission (HSV, HPV, syphilis), because of conact above the condom--but still much better than no condom. And infection through microscopic leaks or pores is an urban myth! No need for "water test" after sex.

Also be on the lookout for discharge from your penis, i.e. mucus or pus, perhaps showing by as underwear stains. Get medical care ASAP. Your partner also should be checked for STDs.
