Chondrosis is cartilage disease and it is graded by radiologists reading MRI. The most widely accepted system is Outerbridge and grade 4 chondrosis is the highest grade = full thickness tear or cartilage loss with exposed bone. Otoh the heterogeneous lateral patellar cartilage is milder chondrosis and possibly outerbridge grade 1 or 2. Good luck, Dr. Brian Sabb
