May be nothing: Menstrual irregularities are not uncommon. If you did the test correctly, the negative test essentially rules out pregnancy. You may wish to see your doctor for an ultrasound examination to be sure. In most cases, menstrual irregularities do resolve without treatment. If you do not wish to get pregnant, keep using contraception consistently.
