Yes: Cough-induced rib fractures occur primarily in women with chronic cough. Middle ribs along lateral part of rib cage affected most commonly. Reduced bone density or osteoporosis is likely risk factor, but cough-induced rib fractures can occur in the presence of normal bone density.
