Maybe a cyst: What you have may not be a node but a cyst called a Baker's Cyst. This is a fluid filled structure which can stay the same size, increase in size or break and cause a lot of pain. Whatever you have the beers you drank are not the cause of the numbness and any structure that is pressing on a nerve and causing numbness should be seen by a doctor and dealt with to avoid permanent nerve damage.
