Unsure why you're: asking about dumbness & anesthetics together? Are you feeling funny after anesthesia, or having loss of memory or brain fog as a result? Or are you scared to use it in an upcoming dental/ surgery? Or know someone adversely affected? Good for you to clarify, so we can help answer your question fully. Most anesthetics are used to relieve pain & fade memory of the surgery, not increase dumbness.

Not usually: General anesthesia in the hands of a skilled anesthesiologist is a safe approach. However there are circumstances when during anesthesia, blood pressure falls too far and for too long, or there is a prolonged period of lack of oxygen, that can result in brain damage. If you are considering surgery, speak to your surgeon and the anesthesiologist about the risks.
