Keep at it: Sounds like you may be trying everything you can already. Every individual's needs are different and there really isn't a "blanket" approach other than having patience and gentle persistence. I think even just being there is of benefit because you're also giving them exposure to things they probably wouldn't otherwise see. Checking to see if the parents/caregivers need help is important too.
