Dacryocystitis: Dacryocystitis is an infection in your tear drainage system. It causes a swelling on the side of your nose next to your eye. It is virtually always caused by a blockage of the duct that drains the tears. You should see an ophthalmologist or ophthalmic plastic surgeon to evaluate and treat this (some ENT specialists also take care of this problem). You may need surgery eventually.
