Then Don't Lift It..: Having pain in the shoulder when you try to lift it is a cardinal sign of tendonitis or a tear in the shoulder (duh!). It's very common but not usually at your age unless you are an athlete or laborer (or politician). If you're careful it may heal itself. That is, go easy on it until pain free for a few weeks. Use ibuprofen as needed. If not better in a month, see a doc and/or physical therapist.
