What does sunken eyes mean in the elderly?

Shrunken eyes: This is due to the atrophy of fat in the orbit surrounding the eye ball, and thinning of the skin around the eyes. Both a condition of aging. This gives the shadowing affect and the appearance of shrunken eyes.
