Common: It is common as we age for the fat around the eyes to shrink down. This can give the appearance of sunken eyes.

Shrunken eyes: This is due to the atrophy of fat in the orbit surrounding the eye ball, and thinning of the skin around the eyes. Both a condition of aging. This gives the shadowing affect and the appearance of shrunken eyes.
