Can asthma go away over time?

Usually not: Asthma may go away during early childhood but having a positive allergy skin test makes such remission much less likely. For most people, asthma tends to linger although the severity or frequency may vary. Having said that, although most studies have found asthma beyond age 7 to be a persistent problem, I have seen remission on a few >10 yrs. The answer is unlikely but probably not impossible.

True, we see this...: but don't count on it. Asthma can spontaneously improve over time, especially in young kids, so called "transient wheezers". Other examples include allergic asthma when triggers are avoided (ex: cat asthma). On the other hand, some patients develop "remodeling" of airways over time that is more permanent. Hard to predict: remit, stablilize, worsen? Tailor treatment, follow patients clinically.

Lifestyle change: Avoid all milk products since the milk protein causes respiratory tract inflammation. Also avoid grains, lentils. Consume veggies, flesh foods, olive oil. Getting 30 -45 min of sunshine at noon daily or taking vitamin D3 10,000 IU/day and taking a good probiotic (not yogurt) help reduce inflammation Yoga breathing exercises 10-30 min/day help too. This may help avoid the need for meds
