A member asked:

Will drinking alcohol decrease the effectiveness of clarithromycin? and would it be bad for your liver?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Ethanol will not decrease efficacy of clarithromycin, but is not wise to drink when you have infection because it interferes with immune function, particularly leukocyte function. You do not say how much alcohol you are drinking, but excessive amounts can damage the liver.
