Cessation of diarrhe: You may not be able to stop a diarrheal episode sooner than three days after onset. At that point you may try Immodium, 1 after each diarrhea bowel movement up to 8 a day or use lomotil (diphenoxylat and atropine) by prescription, 1 every 4 to 6 hours. If it lasts for longer than 7 days you will need to go to your gastroenterologist for a full workup including history and physical, cultures white cell count CDT. Espe
