A member asked:

So every time i have had oral sex with past and my present partner now i get ulcers on my lips and in mouth they go away but im wondering is this normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No- not normal: You may have herpes labialis, a similar virus to genital herpes but localized on to the mouth, lips , tongue and sometimes the inside of the cheeks- You should have these lesions cultured and get on antiviral medication. It would also be advisable to get a pelvic exam, HSV 1 and HSV2 cultures as well as STD screening. Abstain from all sexual activity until cleared.
