Symptoms: It sounds like you had a braxton hicks contraction. Painless tightening is how those are defined. However, since you are dilated, if those get to be regular over an hour or so, call your OB. Most of us have an answering service for nights and weekend where we can be reached. Your OB may want to have your monitored in labor and delivery if that occurs.
