A member asked:

Can someone with mitral valve prolapse have normal bp and can the dr always detect it with stethoscope?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

MV prolapse: yes, a person with mitral valve prolapse can have normal blood pressure. Depending on the degree/severity of the mitral valve prolapse, and the experience of the doctor, it may or may not be detectable with a stethoscope. An echocardiogram can diagnosis the severity of the mitral valve prolapse.
