This depends on how: long this has been happening. If it has only been a few days or week, it could be an ear infection. It also could be night terrors, especially if she doesn't seem to be awake or doesn't wake up easily when you go to check her. Please discuss further with her pediatrician.

Night terrors: If your child remains asleep during the screaming episodes and does not complain of pain, then these are part of a dream state or night terrors that are pretty benign. Frequency is sometimes lessened by decreasing exposure to highly stimulating and scary movies or events. Very common in children at this age who have active imaginations.

Night terrors: if your child is screaming in sleep, it is likely to be a night terror. These are different from night mares because the child is not aware of it when they awaken. These children are not in pain. It is a type of sleep disorder affecting young children. Do not panic. It is not necessary to awaken the child. Just check to be sure she does not hurt herself falling out of bed.
