A member asked:

I have a 3 year old daughter who wakes the house up in her sleep screaming between 10pm & 2am every night, should we bring her to doctor to discuss options to resolve?

Night terrors: It looks like your daughter is experiencing night terrors. This usually resolve as the child gets older. Since it has become a family problem causing everybody to lose sleep, it is best to consult your pediatrician as there is a medication that can be tried on her to lessen or treat the condition.

Night Terrrors: If you find that she will not waken with your light touch, but continues to scream, this is not a nightmare but a night terror. It is similar to sleep walking or talking as a sleep disorder & often reflects poor sleeping habits & a sleep deficit. Re arranging her night routine & getting as little as a half hour more of sleep/24hrs may end this problem.Otherwise visit your dr for other suggestions.
