Ovulation spotting: Vaginal blood that is light brown is that color because it was shed a few days ago and has been broken down into heme. The spotting likely occurred when you ovulated. This happens sometimes, as does cramping with ovulation at times. Your period should arrive as scheduled, but if not, check a pregnancy test if you have had sexual intercourse.
