Not a smoker?: Advair can be helpful, especially if symptoms are present such as shortness of breath and wheezing. It can also decrease episodes of flare ups (exacerbation). But, the more important question is determining why a non-smoker has emphysema at the age of 48 (alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency).

Yes: Very good inhaler -- make sure you rinse and gargle after each use to prevent fungal growth in your throat.
