A 19-year-old female asked:

i used to drink prune juice once a week but now it doesnt work on me anymore?even when i took 2 cups instead of 1..will heating it do the trick?

Prune juice that: gets heated will denature or kill off the nutrition in the juice. If you are using it as a laxative, better to get a food allergy test. Great Plains lab in KS has a good one. Dietary changes can help w/the anxiety and IBS your report in your history also. Peace and good health.

A 20-year-old member asked:

Is fruit/fruit juice ok for me if i'm hypoglycemic?

Only during symptoms: "hypogycemias" are real in diabetic patients that take too much medication or don't eat after taking medications. Unless there is tumor producing low glucose (insulinoma) most people keep normal levels of glucose even while starving. If you recover from your symptoms quickly with the fruit or juice is possible you have real hypoglycemia but is better to prove &measure it ( must be less than 60 ).

Can you be allergic to fruit juice?

Dr. Michael P Vaughn

Yes: Allergic antibodies (ige) can be formed to any large complex molecule that is recognized as foreign to the body such as: animal and plant proteins or carbohydrates, bacteria, fungi, insect venoms or excrement (dust mites) or even synthetic molecules such as drugs. The presence of ige does not, by it self, confirm true allergy; clinical symptoms occurring after exposure must also be noted.

Is a juice detox safe?

Dr. Theodore Cole

Depends...: ...On how long you do it for, and if you're using any other supplements. The major problem with longer term use of a juice fast (more than a day or two) is muscle wasting due to a very low protein intake. Any detox can be difficult to handle, and you should be in pretty good health to begin with or do the detox under a doctor's guidance.

Detoc: Obtain a good juicer and blender. Use only organic and fresh fruits and vegetables. Use a higher proportion of densely colored fruits and vegetables in varous combinations to suit your taste. Vary the ingredients frequently. Drink slowly and drink juices that are cool but not ice cold.
