You have higher risk: You definitely have a higher than average risk of developing varicose veins since your mother has them. Varicose veins are a hereditary condition, so if any of your family members have them then you are more likely to develop them (you might get lucky & not inherit them though). If you develop any leg symptoms such as pain or swelling or see abnormal veins, see a vascular surgeon for evaluation.

Varicose veins: Venous disease has a strong association with positive family history. There are also acquired risk factors: sedentary lifestyle, occupations with a lot of sitting and standing, injury to the legs, aging, pregnancies, use of birth control pills, obesity, among other risks.

VV and genetics: The most common cause of varicose veins is genetics followed in women by pregnancies. However, I see many patients without any prior family history of vein problems. If your mom had varicose veins then the chances of you developing these are high. You should see a vein specialist for a venous evaluation and recommendation for preventive care.

Varicose veins: There is a hereditary factor but pregnancy is the bigger cause ,and in order to prevent varicosities during pregnancy use of support or compression maternity pantyhose is extremely helpful
