Cat scratch disease: sounds like cat scratch disease, best to treat with antibiotics such as cipro (ciprofloxacin) or azithromycin. Those are the two best drugs to treat the bacteria Bartonella which is common with cats.

DOUBT IT: CSD is a slow moving bacterial infection that tends to cause swelling and inflammation in lymph nodes. The offending germ is common in the saliva of young cats, not older ones. There can be a bump in the scratch site, but this process moves toward your core, not down your hand.Other germs can be involved with a local site infection.Call your doc or go to a drop in clinic and have it examined.
