May be not: Many toothpastes have fluoride and sodium laurel sulfate which can be a problem. One toothpaste free of these is Periopaste you may try this or just baking soda(sodium bicarbonate), table salt or a combination of both combined with hydrogen peroxide 3% in brown bottle

Yes: But whether it helps or not is another question. Consult your dentist if this remains an issue. Certain OTC toothpaste may also be helpful in reducing the sensitivity. Avoid mouthwash containing alcohol .
