A few ideas.: Will usually resolve without any treatment in week or two. You can try mouth rinses prescribed by MD containing the steroid or lidocaine to reduce pain and inflammation. Topical agents (OTC or Rx): Anbesol, Kank-A, Orabase, Zilactin-B, Lidex, (fluocinonide) Vanos, Orajel, Peroxyl). Sometimes cautery used by doc.

Covering It Up: Here are a couple of good choices to relieve pain from canker sores. Warm salt water rinsing with 1tsp salt in 8 ounces of warm water. Rinse at least three times per day. Before you eat, you can put an ointment over the sore. Orabase is found in most pharmacies and works well to cover the sore before you eat. Also, avoid foods with tomatoes, spicy or citrus.
