A member asked:

Is a raspy voice always abnormal

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not always: For some people a raspy voice is normal if it has been the same for years. New onset raspiness can be due to strain of vocal cords, viral infection, smoking, presence of vocal cord nodules or other growths. An otolaryngologist is best qualified to evaluate, advise and treat you.
