Recurrent pneumonia: is not uncommon in middle-aged and elderly adults (age 50-85) following treatment in hospital for community-acquired pneumonia. Risk factors for recurrent pneumonia include: male sex, congestive heart failure, lung disease and/or other chronic diseases. It is important to have chest xray between episodes of pneumonia to be sure that it is clearing up.
