A member asked:

Pcos can start at ovary & cause insulin resistance or start with insulin resistance & then effects the ovary, what tests are required to diagnose this?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Both: There is a great deal of research in this area, and we are not sure which disorder comes first-the obesity or the PCOS. Diagnosis can be made by your doctor by taking a good history, doing an exam, and either performing or ordering an ultrasound. Your doctor may also choose to do specific blood tests like DHEAS or testosterone. This is definitely treatable so see your doctor for further evaluation
