Losing a toenail: If you have no redness or pain and nail is loose, you can certainly wait for it to fall off naturally. Make sure you are careful and keep the area clean.

Losing Toenail: If there was no trauma involved you could just trim it back. Is there a new nail coming in at the back edge of the nail? A fungal infection may not look like a "traditional" fungal infection and might require a PAS stain to see for sure. If the nail is simply falling off, no good reason, then I would personally wait to see what happens.

SEEMS OK: As long as there is not redness, swelling, pain, or drainage indicating an infection. Keep a band-aid on the toe so the nail doesn't catch on hose or socks. Sincerely, Dr. Latva
