Silence causes incre: Tinnitus is more prominent in a silent room and you probably nap in a situation where there is little noise so you become more aware of it when you wake up . Tinnitus can be related to loss of hearing and you might want to have an audiologist look at this. Tinnitus is less prominent during the day when there is other noise in your environment to mask the ringing.

Tinnitus: tinnitus is ear ringing which can occur due to either infection or musculoskeletal factors in the TM joint. Rule out infection with your PCP, and/or get your TM joints checked by a dentist. Clenching/ginding which does occur sleep can precipitate tinnitus.
