Familial Dysautono-: Mia is not one of the >! 30 genetic syndromes known to cause autism & intellectual disability. Speech/language & motor delays & seizures caused by breath-holding or a seizure disorder are common in fd. Molecular genetic testing, recommended for all children with ASD (+ dna probe for fragile x ) would detect fd. Autism is a categorical diagnosis, not an etiologic (causative) diagnosis.
